Radsource Radiologists, Awh and Stadnick, Pen Article Appearing in New Medical Journal, Sports Health: A Multidisciplinary Approach.

Brentwood, Tennessee - March 2, 2009 - SAGE publication increased its reputation of bringing well respected medical journals to print with its inaugural January 2009 issue of Sports Health: A Multidisciplinary Approach. With the nationally recognized Edward M. Wojtys, MD as Editor-in- Chief, this journal is sure to be a success. As the Chief of Sports Medicine Services and Medical Director of MedSport at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Dr. Wojtys recognized the significant deficiency in medical journals focused on his specialty. Sports Health is the long awaited bridging of this gap.

As offered in the title, the aim of this journal is to provide knowledge to the range of sports medicine clinicians on how to best comprehensively treat the competitive or recreational athlete. Publishing reviewed articles, didactic features, and original research this journal is dedicated to covering a myriad of sports medicine topics. Dr. Wojtys uniquely explores a format that allows four distinct subsets of sports medicine to come together in a multidisciplinary approach. Published bi-monthly the journal is a thoughtful collaboration among the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM), American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM), Nation Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) and the Sports Physical Therapy Section (SPTS) of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).

Mark Awh, MD and Michael Stadnick's, MD first article, "Orthopaedic MRI Challenge," will appear in the March/April issue of Sports Health. The article adopts the question and answer format asking the reader to diagnose a 22 year old professional baseball pitchers injury given his presenting symptoms and MR images. This article is strategically coupled with Radsource's first full page advertisement appearing in a medical journal. Two more such articles and advertisements will follow in the May/June and November/December issues. View article or subscribe to Sports Health by visiting here.

"We were humbled to be approached by Dr. Wojtys as he was putting together the first issues of Sports Health," offers Michael Stadnick, MD. "Dr. Awh and I are very excited about our participation in this journal and appreciate Dr. Wojtys's recognition of Radsource's reputation in the sports medicine arena. We look forward to our future involvement with Dr. Wojtys as Sports Health will undoubtedly fill a deep void in the sports medicine community."
