Radsource Adds Neuroradiologist, Larry B. Poe, M.D.
Brentwood, TN " June 5, 2006 - Radsource is pleased to announce the addition of neuroradiologist, Larry B. Poe, M.D. "The addition of Dr. Poe brings important depth to our expertise in Neuroradiology", stated Radsource President, Dr. Mark Awh. "Dr. Poe will focus on spinal MRI interpretation for our orthopaedic clients, and will lend his additional expertise in cranial and head and neck examinations to our radiology partners." A short biography of Dr. Poe follows.
Larry Bernard Poe performed his undergraduate studies at North Carolina State University, obtaining a B.S. in Zoology and graduating Summa Cum Laude. He then attended medical school at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. While in medical school, he co-authored the school's handbook of clinical nutrition. Dr. Poe completed a residency in Pediatrics at the University of Kentucky, gaining valuable clinical experience, and became board certified in Pediatrics prior to beginning a career in Radiology.
Dr. Poe's radiology residency was performed at the Penn State Geisenger Medical Center. He obtained his fellowship training in Neuroradiology at the State University of New York at Syracuse. Following his training, Dr. Poe remained at Syracuse as an attending in the Department of Neuroradiology. During his tenure, Dr. Poe was a highly respected and valued clinician, and provided exceptional teaching to the many radiology residents and fellows who trained in the department. He presented several scientific papers and award winning exhibits at national radiology meetings. Most recently, Dr. Poe has worked in private practice at a comprehensive neurosurgical referral center for Southern New York and Northern Pennsylvania, where he and others developed and provided cutting edge pain management to patients with spinal conditions.
Dr. Poe is a member of the American Society of Neuroradiology and is a founding member of the American Society of Pediatric Neuroradiology. He has contributed numerous peer-reviewed publications to the Neuroradiology literature, and has co-authored or contributed to eight book chapters.
Dr. Poe resides with his wife Joy in Binghamton, New York, but intends to soon move to the Lexington, Kentucky area to be closer to family. When not practicing radiology, he enjoys hiking with his wife and their border collie and slicing golf balls out of bounds as frequently as possible.
